Drew Brees finds himself among the most decorated athletes in America.

The New Orleans Saints quarterback continues that tradition this offseason, learning this week that he is up for two ESPY Awards: the Best Record Breaking Performance and Best NFL Player.

This past season, Brees became the National Football League’s all time passing yardage leader, breaking the record formerly held by Peyton Manning in a Monday Night Football victory over the Washington Redskins, when he threw a 63 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith.

Brees also became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 500 career touchdown passes, took sole possession of the NFL’s all time record for pass completions, and he broke his own mark for single season completion percentage.

In 2010, Brees received three ESPY trophies, for the Best Male Athlete, Best Championship Performance, and Best NFL Player.

Brees is joined by Oregon women’s basketball player Sabrina Ionescu, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, and high school track phenom Matthew Boling.

This year, the ESPYs will be hosted by actor/comedian Tracy Morgan and will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 10 at 7:00 pm CST.
